“Kill the Light” is SYSTEM SYN’s latest and most synthpop-oriented album to date. Expertly mixed and mastered by Ted Phelps (Imperative Reaction), the album takes the listener on an emotionally engaging journey, showcasing Carney’s vocal and lyrical talents like never before. The songs of “Kill the Light” range from haunting and heartbreaking, to heavy-hitting club tracks, yet all retain the sound that is so uniquely SYSTEM SYN. "Kill the Light" also features backing vocals and guitar on selected tracks by SYSTEM SYN live members, Tash Cox and Scott Landes.

lyrics
the room would set on fire
when you’d walk inside
you held the hearts of everyone back then
some magic quality to which I aspired
I’ve never felt that way again
where are you now
I thought you’d be here
to say you’re proud
I’m older now
I see the world differently
if it breaks your heart
it must be the truth
so only tell me lies
while I pretend that you’re alive
you held your loneliness inside
till you could barely breathe
all their arms to welcome you
and still you had to leave
you don’t understand
the world’s so different now
no saints or heroes anymore
just their shadows breaking down
where are you now
I thought you’d be here
to say you’re proud
I’m older now
I see the world differently
if it breaks your heart
it must be the truth
so only tell me lies
while I pretend that you’re alive

A stellar cast of artists put their own shadowy spins on recent Bestial Mouths material—toward the goth club floor or into pure noise. Bandcamp New & Notable May 11, 2021

I have been following VNV and attending their concerts for years. They are an amazing band, so prolific, well travelled, classy, and down to earth. Ronan is such a humble, amazing fellow. I'll never forget his taking a person's cellphone so he could give the person on the other end in hospital a front row experience. But this track, their music, is so moving. Lyrics are so well thought out, and their sound so consistently emotive over the years. Can't say enough good about VNV. realbibliodude
