“Kill the Light” is SYSTEM SYN’s latest and most synthpop-oriented album to date. Expertly mixed and mastered by Ted Phelps (Imperative Reaction), the album takes the listener on an emotionally engaging journey, showcasing Carney’s vocal and lyrical talents like never before. The songs of “Kill the Light” range from haunting and heartbreaking, to heavy-hitting club tracks, yet all retain the sound that is so uniquely SYSTEM SYN. "Kill the Light" also features backing vocals and guitar on selected tracks by SYSTEM SYN live members, Tash Cox and Scott Landes.

lyrics
we spent our days on vain attempts
to try and outrun time
as if our work could carry on
when our lives are left behind
but trying’s not enough
unless the dice are on your side
but who of us can say
What fate is carried in the tide
there is no parade for artists
when they die alone and poor
you gave what you could
but they took all you had
and cried more, more
give us more
there was no headline
when they found you on the floor
you never got your love or fame
it wasn’t what your journey had in store
what was it for
there’s no parade for for martyrs
who die without a cause
‘cause that’s not what it means
and no one knows where your heart was
where your heart was
so goodbye fellow traveler
upon this grain of sand
I carved you out this place in song
I hope you’d understand
some of us remember
in that way you may live on
and though we’ll never meet again
for now we share this song
there’s no parade for artists
when they die alone and poor
you gave what you could
but they took all you had
and cried more, more
give us more
give us more
give us more

A stellar cast of artists put their own shadowy spins on recent Bestial Mouths material—toward the goth club floor or into pure noise. Bandcamp New & Notable May 11, 2021

I have been following VNV and attending their concerts for years. They are an amazing band, so prolific, well travelled, classy, and down to earth. Ronan is such a humble, amazing fellow. I'll never forget his taking a person's cellphone so he could give the person on the other end in hospital a front row experience. But this track, their music, is so moving. Lyrics are so well thought out, and their sound so consistently emotive over the years. Can't say enough good about VNV. realbibliodude
